River Rafting Expeditions Our river expeditions range from 3-7 days and can be combined with dude ranch stays and other multi-sport adventures. Green River Family Trip: Spend quality family time together. Raft through astounding canyons and enjoy ancient history, a fun director, over 60 rapids, warmer water, inflatable kayaks and rowboats. This family trip involves kids and parents. All can share the experience and each gets exactly what they want out of it, whether they choose to tame the rapids on their own in a small boat or simply hold on in a big boat. Green River Saddles & Paddles: Carving its way through astounding sandstone walls, beautiful river beaches and a legacy of incomparable outlaw and Indian history, the Green River provides a playful journey, a true wilderness adventure without extreme whitewater - and Western's selection of oar boats, paddle rafts and inflatable kayaks allow you to experience it any way you wish. With more than 60 fun-filled rapids, warm summer water temperatures and unbeatable scenery, Desolation Canyon is a favorite choice for families, first-time rafters or seasoned river runners. Your trip begins at Red Cliffs Ranch on the banks of the Colorado River where you'll experience horseback riding, an off-road Hummer Safari and perhaps some of the most unique and inspiring scenery in the world. Colorado River Multi-Sport Adventure: Surrounded by two of America's most astounding national parks and combined with endless opportunities for world-class fun, Moab is the ideal departure city for Western's Multi-Sport Adventure. This unique vacation combines the excitement of rafting the Colorado River through legendary Westwater Canyon, exploring Moab's breathtaking backcountry on an exhilarating Hummer Safari, and riding horseback in Castle Valley. All this combined with the all-inclusive comfort and amenities of Red Cliffs Ranch on the banks of the Colorado River make this the ideal trip for everyone. Colorado River & Canyonlands Nat'l Park: Where the Colorado and Green rivers meet in a timeless setting called "The Confluence," Cataract Canyon begins. Bolstered by the Green, the Colorado doubles its force, carving a deep 100-mile-long chasm through the heart of Canyonlands National Park. Calm stretches of river wind through soul-stirring canyons and dazzling geologic formations. Ancient Native American ruins, fascinating petroglyphs, and magnificent waterfalls beckon your arrival. Surrender your senses as some 28 rapids take giant steps downward in one of the river's steepest stretches, rivaling the big water of the Grand Canyon. Cataract Canyon & Sorrel River Ranch: No Postcard can possibly portray the splendor of wondrous Castle Valley where Sorrel River Ranch provides infinite recreation and ultimate relaxation. After 2 nights at this breathtaking ranch you're headed for a journey through a deep 100-mile-long chasm where you'll experience much more than just breathtaking views of Canyonlands National Park. Here, memories of ancient cultures create powerful reflections of lives once lived. Towering sandstone cliffs and astounding geologic formations stir the soul and spirit. Beyond the beauty, you'll feel the mighty power of the Colorado as it doubles its force plunging over 30 feet in a matter of minutes through rapids that can match those of the Grand Canyon in power and difficulty. Grand Canyon 6 Day: In the grandest canyon of the Colorado, experience the excitement, serenity, joy and enchanting beauty of the river as it transforms this divine chasm and those who venture down it. Raft 188 miles in 6 days, each day descending deeper into geologic time. The Grand Canyon is ever-changing, with massive walls that step back to expose eons of natural history - at one place dark and narrow, and at another lush with waterfalls thundering hundreds of feet in luminous freefall. Daily side hikes lead you to sparkling streams, pristine pools, green fern glens, and ancient Anasazi ruins. The Canyon's scenic extremes are matched by the size and ferocity of its 60 rapids where Western's specially designed J-Rigs will give you maximum excitement and safety. Grand Canyon 3 or 4 Day: The awesome beauty of Grand Canyon continues in the lower 100 miles of the canyon, but the Colorado River's famous rapids, though still exciting, are a bit tamer and less challenging. Massive sandstone cliffs conjure up imaginary shapes. Hidden waterfalls and pools carve their way down to the river. Wildlife is abundant, with frequent sightings of elusive Blue Heron, soaring hawks and eagles, and majestic Big Horn sheep. At night, the canyon walls unveil a heaven of innumerable stars. One of the great features of this 3-day trip is its ease of access from Las Vegas. Many guests choose to precede this trip with an optional day's activities and overnight stay at Bar Ten Ranch on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Idaho's Salmon River Main Salmon: Rich in scenic wonders and history, the Main Salmon drops 1,200 feet in 89 miles, creating exciting, but moderate whitewater. The blue-green waters, known as the "River of No Return," warm up to very comfortable temperatures in July and August and offer calm sections and deep pools perfect for relaxing, swimming, and simply absorbing the country's splendor. You'll enjoy sandy camping beaches backed up to pine forests. The Salmon runs through the heart of the largest road-less wilderness in the lower 48 states. It's a country of pines and granite mountains where wildlife abounds and rock paintings left by ancient inhabitants still exist. Middle Fork Salmon: With its sparkling clear waters and challenging rapids, the Middle Fork drops over 3,000 feet in 100 miles of breathtaking wilderness. A spectacular forest of fir and spruce is home to abundant wildlife. Indian rock paintings, and pioneer homesteads. You'll relax in hot springs, visit beautiful creeks, hike to magnificent waterfalls, and camp in mountain meadows. In early season, high water is suited for the hearty adventurer. By July, moderate technical whitewater is good for all experience levels. The Middle Fork is a blue ribbon trout stream and July through September is also the season for the upriver Salmon and Steelhead runs, so fishing is good, to say the least.
