Dubai

Archaeological digs suggest evidence that the area now known as Dubai was
originally settled by fisherman some 4,000 years ago, but it was not until the
1830's that a major settlement was established in Dubai.
Today, Dubai is a fascinating city where glistening modern high-rise
buildings contrast with traditional dhows plying the important Creek which is
the historical focal point of the city. In just one day, you can experience the
vast expanse of the desert lying just outside of the city along with the hustle
and bustle of the spice and gold souks. An abra (water taxi) ride along the
creek provides a spectacular panorama of this city of merchants.
Dubai offers visitors a wide variety of experiences. It is one of those great
cities where you can do a lot or do absolutely nothing. At first glance, it may
seem as if Dubai is just a large cosmopolitan city. But as you walk the streets,
you'll find an international lifestyle blends seemlessly with deeply rooted
culture. You can spend time relaxing on the sandy beaches or browsing through
the souks.

We feature Dubai in several programs. If you are looking for a holiday that
combines beach time with city time, our Arabian Escapade is perfect. Or, why not
combine Dubai with a safari in Kenya? Looking for a beach holiday with a bit of
a twist? Why not combine Dubai with the Seychelles or Mauritius?
We can customize any of the programs featured on our website or we can plan a
holiday just for you.
